Introducing
The Bra-LaLa Boutique of Bravery
The BraLaLa Project began with the goal of bringing Art Therapy to our patients in New Hampshire.
Art Therapy brings professionals together who believe making art can be healing and life enhancing. The BraLaLa aims to offer stress relief, emotional support and positive inspiration during a very challenging experience faced by our patients. The environment allows a woman to reflect on her journey through breast cancer and know that she is not alone in her fight.
A woman once decorated her bra with vibrant colors and bright shapes. On the inside of the bra, she painted the cups black. When asked why, she explained to the group this was how she felt through the beginning days of her diagnosis. She was always smiling and appeared "OK" on the outside. But, on the inside she was angry and alone. Having a place to express such strong emotions is beyond valuable and inspiring.

My inspiration to begin this project came from my Mother. She is one of the most creative and resourceful women I have ever met. Imagine Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray & Bob Vila all rolled into one crazy lady! Yes, I said Bob Vila. You need tools to accomplish these projects! I may have had several glue guns and a sewing machine by the time I was 12 but only now am I realizing I have inherited her crafty side.
By coming together with other women, the group offers a sense of community and support. Each Bra represents a woman's journey through breast cancer. It has inspired me to bring the same fun, supportive and creative environment to our patients here in Manchester, NH!
She had breast cancer in her 30's and is a 20+ year survivor. (I'm vague on numbers here because she may repremand me if I clearly state her age) Several years ago she joined a group that gets women together to decorate bras.
Simple. As. That.
